Speaking on camera, Harrington said: "So this came this morning and I'm really, really excited to have in my hand a hardback copy of my book.
"It was such an experience sitting down with Roddy talking about my life story from the beginning of my life up until now. There were plenty of tears shed but we had a lot of laughs as well.
"I genuinely couldn't think of a better person to sit down with and talk about my life story and get it down on paper other than Roddy Doyle. He's a fantastic person and I'm truly blessed to have him write my book."
In Harrington's book she will divulge all the details of her often troubled childhood and her road to Olympic glory.
