Keith Urban became visibly emotional while performing his regret-filled ballad 'We Go Back' at a concert in Atlantic City, just as renewed speculation swirls around his former wife Nicole Kidman's alleged romance with businessman and founder of private equity firm Regent, Michael Reinstein.
Urban, 58, appeared to fight back tears and crouched onstage during the 21 August performance at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The song tells the story of a man regretting letting his first love go after she has found somebody else. Urban did not identify Kidman as the inspiration.
The timing has drawn attention because Kidman, 59, has recently been linked to Reinstein following sightings in Italy and Los Angeles, though neither has publicly confirmed a relationship.
Keith Urban Gets Emotional During 'We Go Back'
During the Atlantic City show, Urban introduced 'We Go Back' as a story about a couple who fell in love when they were young before the man 'screwed it up'.
He then sang lyrics about regretting the decision to let the woman go and learning that she now has somebody new.
Footage from the performance showed Urban becoming emotional as he delivered the song. He briefly crouched onstage before continuing, adding to the impression that the lyrics had struck a personal chord.
The song is part of Urban's 2026 album Flow State and features Michael McDonald. It was released in June, with lyrics centred on lost love, regret and a former partner moving on.
Urban's emotional performance came amid reports that Kidman is romantically involved with Reinstein. However, there is no confirmation that Urban was singing about his ex-wife.
Nicole Kidman's Rumoured New Romance
The timing of Urban's emotional performance has fuelled further interest in Kidman's personal life amid speculation that she may have moved on with a new romance. The actress was spotted with Reinstein sipping Aperol Spritzes in Portofino, Italy, in July.
Reinstein was later photographed picking Kidman up from Los Angeles' Van Nuys Airport in a black Ferrari.

The pair's public outings have fuelled dating rumours, although neither Kidman nor Reinstein has publicly confirmed that they are in a relationship.
The sightings came as Kidman opened up about her life following her divorce from Urban.
In an interview with British Vogue published on 13 August, the actress said she had felt 'very fearful and deeply vulnerable' during the upheaval, but ultimately chose to move forward with 'an enormous amount of hope'.
Kidman also said she was embracing love and staying open to new possibilities, describing the future as 'completely unknown' to her.

Urban and Kidman met in Los Angeles in 2005 and married in Sydney in June 2006. The couple shares two daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15.
They privately separated in mid-2025, with their split becoming public in September. At the time, a source told Page Six that Kidman 'did not want the separation and was trying to save things.'
Kidman subsequently filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. A Tennessee judge finalised their divorce on 6 January 2026, after the former couple reached agreements over their financial and parenting arrangements.
Under their parenting plan, Kidman became the primary residential parent, while she and Urban agreed to share major decisions involving their daughters. Neither was required to pay child or spousal support.
