Katie Taylor details Croke Park talks as she sends Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul message

Katie Taylor has revealed talks are ongoing between her team and Croke Park as she remains hopeful of fighting at GAA Headquarters next year.

Although an exact date has yet to be agreed, the undisputed lightweight champion says a May fight is "looking likely".

She told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour: "There's no date right now but April or May some time I think. Apparently the whole month of May is free for Croke Park so I think it's looking likely that month."

Taylor's manager Brian Peters held talks with Croke Park earlier this year, but a fight could not be made in time for a September date they had agreed on.

When asked if she believes the Croke Park will definitely happen next, Taylor replied: "Yeah I think so. I think they're already in talks with Croke Park, the biggest stadium in Ireland. We're hoping it's going to be set for April or May some time. I think it is going to be a complete sell out.

"Can you imagine 80,000 people? It's incredible. I was even going for a walk, because I'm at home right now in Ireland, I was going for a walk just in my local town and I think every single person stopped me to tell me they were going to buy tickets to the Croke Park fight. People seem to be very excited about it and I think it will be the biggest event in women's boxing history, one of the biggest events in boxing you could possibly see."

One possible issue in the Croke Park fight being made is a €100million defamation lawsuit that Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn has filed against Jake Paul, who promotes Amanda Serrano.

A rematch between Taylor and the Puerto Rican is the preferred fight for Croke Park after their legendary battle in Madison Square Garden earlier this year and the Bray Bomber says Hearn and Paul "need to sort their problems out" for the bout to happen.

She said: "I don’t know the ins and outs of what’s going on there but they definitely need to sort their problems out for this fight to happen. Whatever’s going on, they obviously need to sit down together and speak and talk about it.

“It would be a shame if the rematch didn’t happen because of that. They just need to be bigger men and do what’s right for boxing. If that is what’s in the way of making the rematch happen, they definitely need to obviously sort that out.”

On the prospect a deal not being done to face Serrano, Taylor stated there are other options out there for Croke Park, which are believed to include the winner of Chantelle Cameron v Jessica McCaskill, Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg.

Taylor added: "She [Serrano] said after the fight she did want it. The ball’s obviously in their court if you want it but if you don’t want it, we obviously have to move on and look at different options.”
