Cadbury Ireland and the FAI have launched a new programme for women which aims to encourage participation in senior women’s football around the country.
The new initiative, FAI Cadbury Kick Fit, targets 20 grassroots clubs across Ireland including six Dublin locations in Crumlin, Fingal, Irishtown, Lucan United, Lusk United and Parkvale FC. It will run for eight weeks this summer. The initiative is a fun, non-competitive social programme for women of all ages in Dublin with the primary aim to keep fit and create a social group, while encouraging recruitment of coaches and players to clubs.
Cadbury ambassador and Ireland Women’s National Team captain, Katie McCabe, was at the launch to show her support. She said: "Women’s football is seeing huge support at the moment due to our team qualifying for the World Cup for the first time, but myself and my teammates began at our grassroots clubs where the passion, drive and encouragement I received is where I found my passion for this sport.
