The Duchess of Cambridge has been urged not to try to be like Princess Diana, by a royal expert.
Similarities between the pair were highlighted by many royal fans online after a never-seen-before picture of the Princess of Wales emerged.
The portrait, taken by esteemed photographer David Bailey in 1988, captured a black and white side profile of the princess.
She's posed in a satin one-shoulder dress, which has been paired with a teardrop earring as she looked off into the distance.
This has been compared with some of the portraits released of Kate on her 40th birthday earlier this year, where she too can be seen wearing a similar style gown and looking away from the camera.

Royal biographer Angela Levin took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the comparisons being made by royal fans, stating that the Duchess doesn't need to emulate Diana.
She wrote: “I think Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge should stick to being herself. She doesn't need to try to be someone else including Diana. She's great as she is.”
The tweet sparked discussion among royal fans, who were quick to also share their thoughts.
One person said: "I don't even think she is trying to be Diana, I don't see any major similarities to Diana apart from the fact that they are both beautiful and kind."
"The Duchess of Cambridge never tried to be anyone else but herself," wrote another. "She has been in the public eye for over 20 years.
"A lot longer than that of Diana. The Duchess of Cambridge has made her own mark and done things her own way including creating her adorable family."
A third commented: "Of course she can't be compared to Diana. Diana was doing over 500 appearances every year, and so many tours and she was so young.
"She had a huge influence on pop culture and her Charity work remains unmatched. So yeah. No comparison."
While someone else put: "Spot on Angela! Nor is she trying to be anyone else. It’s certain people pushing that nonsense."
