Kate Middleton seemed 'more relaxed' on solo trip without 'fussy' William, says expert

The Duchess of Cambridge appeared more relaxed and more confident on her recent solo trip without husband Prince William, according to a royal expert.

Last month, Kate travelled alone to the Danish capital Copenhagen for a two-day visit, where she learned about the country's approach to early years development.

She also had an audience with Denmark's Queen Margrethe and carried out a visit to a women's crisis centre with Crown Princess Mary.

For many, one of the highlights of the visit was seeing Kate whizzing down a huge slide when she visited the Lego Foundation PlayLab.

And royal expert and biographer Robert Jobson told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat that she "really came out of herself" on the trip.

He said: “Kate seemed more relaxed without William, who can be a bit fussy when he’s on royal jobs.

"The fact that she went down that slide, I’m not sure she necessarily would have done that if he was there. She was on good form, all smiles, very confident. Probably more confident than when she’s alongside William.

"She spoke very well. I thought she really came out of herself when she was there...She didn’t have to refer to William.

"When you see them together, she’s always double-checking whether it’s the right thing to do, even now.”

Despite the solo visit, Kate and William were back together for a joint trip to Wales this week, where they marked St David's Day.

There they conducted their first walkabout since the pandemic during a trip to a market in Abergavenny to learn about the local produce on offer.

Well-wishers gathered outside the market and braved the cold weather in order to catch a glimpse of the royal couple an hopefully chat to them.

William was caught on camera noting the chilly temperatures in Wales that day.

But despite the freezing weather he managed to melt hearts when he made a rare personal - yet very sweet - comment about his wife of more than 10 years.

After shaking hands with one fan, he pointed towards his wife and said: "She has the coldest hands ever."

And he followed up with: "But they say 'cold hands, warm heart'."
