Kate Middleton gives rare comment on Princess of Wales title - with romantic nod to Wills

When she walked down the aisle on her wedding day, Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge.

But as her husband Prince William rises up the line of succession, Kate will likely get a brand new title - Princess of Wales.

And it has emerged that while on a visit to Cardiff Castle over the Jubilee weekend, she made a rare comment regarding the title - and was full of praise for William.

In a clip shared by Twitter user @hellen3030, Kate can be seen meeting and greeting a crowd that turned out to see her as well as William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

As she shakes hands, one lady tells her that one day she will make a great Princess of Wales.

And Kate replies saying: "That's very kind of you. I'm in good hands" as she gestures towards William.

When Prince Charles becomes King, William will become the heir to the throne and will probably take on the title Prince of Wales.

It is not a given that William will get the title, as it has to be bestowed upon the heir by the monarch.

However, experts predict it is more than likely that Charles will pass on his title to William.

If this happens, Kate would automatically become the Princess of Wales. The last person to hold this title was, of course, William's late mother Princess Diana. Charles's second wife, Camilla, decided against using the title out of respect for Diana.

However, a source previously said that if and when this is to happen, it would be an emotional moment for William.

They told the Telegraph: "I’m sure it’ll be a bit of a bittersweet moment.

"This is her son and his wife, so in some ways, it will be coming full circle—but it will also be a poignant reminder of what we all lost."

Diana died following a car crash in Paris in August 1997 at the age of just 36.

Kate never got to meet her mother-in-law, but she often pays tribute to her by wearing pieces from her stunning jewellery collection.

Most famously, Kate wears Diana's diamond and sapphire engagement ring.

Meanwhile, in two of her 40th birthday portraits from earlier this year, Kate also wears a pair of gorgeous pearl and diamond drop earrings that once belonged to Diana.
