Kate Middleton baffles fans with rare Prince Louis update as he hits milestone

As the summer holidays get started across the UK, the royal children will also be getting excited for their own version of 'school's out' fun with their parents.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have all officially signed off from Lambrook School, the prestigious education giant that they attend near their Windsor home, reports the Mirror.

The trio will enjoy their break from lessons until early September, and will most likely spend a lot of it with their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The beginning of the school holidays marks a special milestone for the youngest royal, Prince Louis, as it means the five-year-old has now completed his first school year.

The young prince began Lambrook last September alongside his older siblings, who moved from their previous school, Thomas's, in London.

William and Kate are said to be keen to allow their children as normal an upbringing as possible, so not a lot is known about the kids' behaviour inside school.

However, Kate did give an update about her children's schooling recently, leaving fans baffled by her comments about Louis.

This news came in June when Kate met up with some schoolchildren while officially re-opening the Young V&A museum in east London.

Some curious kids asked questions about the royal children, and what years they were in at school.

In a video posted to TikTok, Kate can be seen patiently explaining to them that before the holidays: "My daughter Charlotte is going into Year 4 next year. I'm Charlotte's mummy. And then George is in Year 5. And Louis' in reception."

Fans outwith the UK were left confused by Louis' year group being described as reception - but most UK fans will be aware that reception refers to the first year of formal school.

One commented on the video: "Louis' in reception sounds like she left him in the lobby or something."

Another asked: "What does in reception mean?"

And a third pondered: "What is reception? Like preschool?"
