Kate celebrates St Patricks Day in green with visit to Irish Guards with Prince William

The Duchess or Cambridge celebrated St Patricks Day in Irish emerald green.

Kate, 40, and Prince William, 39, marked the day with family and service personnel from 1st Battalion Irish Guards at Mons Barracks, Aldershot.

The dog, called Turlogh Mor also known as Seamus, and handler Drummer Adam Walsh, stood to attention the parade ground.

Kate, who wore shamrock on her jacket, and William, who donned a sprig on his cap of his Irish Guards uniform, arrived by car on the parade ground.

The duchess handed baskets filled with shamrock to regimental leaders to hand out to the ranks.

She chatted and smiled with officers as she handed each their personal sprig of shamrock.

She told them: "Good morning, have some shamrock. Happy St Patricks Day."

Last in line was well-behaved Seamus but Kate needed help from an officer to get it attached to his collar.

Prince William gave Seamus a salute as he was led off the parade ground with marching band.

Adorable twenty-month-old Gaia Money stole the show after grabbing two bouquets from the duchess.

Smiling Kate said: "Shall we swap. Now you have of both them."

Kate said: "That’s so sweet. Do you fit inside it."

Mum Lorraine Money said afterwards: "The duchess was lovely. Gaia took both bouquets and she let them keep them. Gaia has been practising her curtsey at nursery school but failed!

"I am from Jamaica and we spoke about Jamaica as they are going there next week."

Prince William handed long service medals to Colour Sgt Samuel Mogey, Lance Sgt Glenn Baker and Sgt Gagaan Gurunm.

Seven-year-old Darcy Rose Tomlinson presented Kate with a bouquet of flowers.

Gaia’s grandmother Mary Money said: "They both said about how much they are looking forward to Jamaica and Gaia is half Jamaican.

"They expressed regret as they had been unable to see the regiment for many years because they have been serving in Iraq snd South Sudan and Covid last year. So it was a great reunion."

Drummer Adam Walsh, handler of Seamus, said: "I went up to her and said Happy St Patrick’s Day and she asked ‘what is his name’.

"I said it was Turlogh Mor but we call him Seamus as its a bit easier. "She said ‘I hope I put the shamrock on right this time and I helped her and we carried on.

"I was very excited as this was the first time in three years we have seen them. Seamus behaved himself. I was afraid he was going to let us down. I was more nervous than he was. But he was fantastic."
