Kate and Rio Ferdinand's emotional reunion as he returns home after World Cup final

Kate and Rio Ferdinand had an emotional reunion after the father-of-four hot-footed it home from the World Cup final.

The BBC pundit, 44, has been out been out in the Middle East reporting on the football, but told fans he was happy to be home.

Sharing a pic of the former England star hugging his kids Lorenze, 16 Tate, 14 Tia, 11 and Cree, 18 months at the door, Kate, 31, gushed: "Daddy's home. Four weeks has felt like eight. Couldn't be happier to have my husband home," followed by a heart emoji.

Rio responded to the post saying: "Happiest when with family."

The TOWIE star's pic went down a storm with fans with many telling the blended family how happy they were for them to be reunited.

Rio surprised his wife last week when he took the family on a wintery family trip to Lapland UK.

In a video posted to her Instagram Stories, Kate showed the moment her hubby returned home as he took a break from his pundit duties in Qatar.

Attempting to hide her face from the camera, she bursting into tears at the reunion,

Rio told his followers: "I just got home and she's crying. She's pleased to see me. I look horrendous, I feel horrendous, she's crying."

Hiding her face, Kate replied: "I didn't know you were going to be here."

Teasing his wife, Rio said: ''She won't look. Go on, show us you're crying. Go on, show us your tears."

Despite their five-year relationship, Kate has confessed she still feels like an outsider at times in her blended family with her hubby Rio.

The 31-year-old is stepmother to the former footballer's three kids after their mum Rebecca tragically died from cancer in 2015.

Kate admitted she can sometimes get "over-emotional" and not feel a part of their family, despite pointing out how welcoming everyone has been to her.

The influencer shares little Cree with the ex-Manchester United player, who she began dating in 2016.

Speaking to Alex Willumsen on her podcast, about how long it should take for a blended family to feel fully formed, she said: "They say four to seven years and I'm at the kind of five year mark and I'm feeling good, I'm feeling a lot better than where I was at the beginning."

However Kate then confessed: "I still feel... no one makes me feel like this by the way, this is me and myself... that I'm sometimes not part of the family.

"I sometimes get over emotional about some things and certain things trigger me because it makes me feel like an outsider.

"None of my family do anything to make me feel like that. They are welcoming, they do everything that they could possibly do in all honesty but I'm just so emotional about it."
