Kate and Rio Ferdinand had a “stressful weekend” as one of their children was sent to hospital after suffering a “serious accident”.
Kate, 31, shared the concerning news in an update to followers on Instagram on Monday, as she posted a photo taken from her bed.
The TV personality and former footballer Rio, 44, married in 2019 and share two-year-old son Cree. Kate is also stepmother to Rio’s three children, shared with his late first wife Rebecca Ellison, who died from cancer in 2015.
Discussing the accident, Kate wrote: "Morning guys. It’s a different kind of Monday for me this week, it’s been a really stressful weekend!
"One of the kids had a serious accident, thank goodness they are OK & have only ended up with their leg in a cast.”
The worried mum didn’t share which child had been injured, however added: "It could have been so much worse, we are definitely being watched over.”
Kate continued: "I also have shingles, feeling really rubbish & sore & emotional from this weekend’s events!”
Referring to her dog, she said: "So me and Rons are chilling in bed for the morning”, before asking fans: "I would be so grateful for any advice.”
Katie’s update comes after she spoke about her experience being a stepmum on Vicky Pattinson’s The Secret To podcast.
The former TOWIE star admitted to having “difficult moments”, and said she is thankful she can “share my experience” with others who have gone through a similar journey.
"I didn’t think about it too much in depth but, when I was, walking the journey, I found there was lots of difficult moments,” Katie said.
"The children have been through a lot, Rio’s been through a lot, it’s a lot to take on, and I really felt like I needed to speak to people and I didn’t know where to turn.
"I felt like nobody I knew had been through something similar. I’m so grateful that I can share my experience and help people."
