ALPE DHUEZ FRANCE AUGUST 18 LR Demi Vollering of The Netherlands and Team SD Worx Protime on second place congratulates the overall race winner Katarzyna Niewiadoma of Poland and Team CanyonSRAM Racing Yellow Leader Jersey on the podium ceremony after the 3rd Tour de France Femmes 2024 Stage 8 a 1499km stage from Le GrandBornand to Alpe dHuez 1828m UCIWWT on August 18 2024 in Alpe dHuez France Photo by Alex BroadwayGetty Images.

Tour de France winner Kasia Niewiadoma elaborated on the obvious tension between her and defending champion Demi Vollering after the final stage of this year's race, which Niewiadoma won by a slim four-second margin over the SD Worx-Protime star during an appearance at Rouleur Live this week.

Niewiadoma took over the race lead when Vollering was caught up in a mass crash in a turn with 6.3km to go on stage 5 to Amnéville. Vollering led Niewiadoma by 34 seconds before the stage but lost 1:47 due to the crash.
