MANDYA: The severed bodies of two women were found in water bodies in Mandya district late Tuesday. The bodies were stuffed into gunny bags and thrown into canals.
The half-severed body of a woman, aged around 40, was found at Chikkadevaraja canal near Arakere in Srirangapatna taluk while the other half-severed body of a woman, around 35 years, was found in Baby Canal near B Bettahalli of Pandavapura taluk. The two canals are at a distance of 50km from each other. Police said the killer or killers have chopped the bodies and stuffed the lower part in gunny bags and thrown them into the canal.
Police searching for remaining body parts
Cops are searching for the rest of the body parts. In both cases, the legs of the mutilated bodies were tied. Police suspect that the women were murdered in some other place and their bodies dismembered to destroy evidence.
Passersby noticed the bags and informed police. The bodies are kept at the mortuary in Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences. Seven teams have been formed to trace the culprits, said police.
