Karnataka: Miscreants open fire in Mangaluru, one injured

MANGALURU: A 39- year- old man sustained injuries after four miscreants opened fire at around 10.30pm in Sullia police station limits on Sunday.

According to the police, the injured has been identified as Mohammed Sayi.

Dakshina Kannada SP Rishikesh Sonawane said that the incident took place when the complainant was returning home after attending his sister in-law’s wedding function at Bantwal. At around 10.30pm when he was near Venkatramana Society, near Jyothi Circle in Kasaba village on the Mani- Mysuru highway, he stopped the car to go to his sister Raziya’s old house and when he was about to open the door to return to his home, four miscreants who arrived in an SUV from Jyothi circle side, opened fire at him.

He managed to dodge the bullets but sustained injuries from splinters of bullets that hit the vehicle.

A case has been registered under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.) and Section 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
