BENGALURU: A whopping 7,65,077 cases were disposed of in Karnataka during the one-day National Lok Adalat held on Saturday. This is the highest number of cases settled during a Lok Adalat in the state, justice B Veerappa, executive chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, said on Monday.
The previous record was made on October 8, 2016, when 6.1 lakh cases were settled. Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute resolution systems that delivers informal, cheap and expeditious justice to the common man. Lok Adalats remove from the system all such matters that do not really call for attention and time of the courts.
