Karnataka: 13 in custody for murder of Dalit leader Narasimhamurthy alias Kurimurthy in Gubbi

TUMAKURU: Thirteen persons were arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti convener Narasimhamurthy alias Kurimurthy in Gubbi on June 15.

Seven were directly involved in the attack and the others helped the assailants. Six of the accused are from Gubbi town, two from Mandya, two from Mysuru, two from Ramanagara, and one from Bengaluru. Some of them are history-sheeters with criminal cases registered against them. Police said the motive for the murder is still being ascertained, though they suspect land dispute to be the cause.

On June 15 afternoon, Narasimhamurthy was chatting with some friends at a tea shop when the miscreants hacked him to death and fled the spot. tnn
