Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been pictured training ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.
The Ballon d’Or winner has seen his season undermined by injuries, missing the World Cup and being limited to only 13 LaLiga starts.
Benzema, who remains Madrid’s top scorers this season with 16 goals even despite his fitness problems, sat out of the win over Osasuna with muscle fatigue on Saturday.
That would have sparked fears the Frenchman would be forced to sit out of Tuesday’s game on Merseyside, although Benzema was pictured training alongside his teammates at Anfield.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed the 35-year-old was “looking good” during Monday’s pre-match press conference.
"Benzema is looking good,” said the Italian.
“He has possibilities of playing.
"This knockout stage, we have recent fresh memories of the success last year."
Benzema boasts a brilliant record against Liverpool, including a famous goal against them in the 2018 Champions League final following Loris Karius’ mistake.
In total, the former Lyon star has scored four goals in six appearances against the Merseyside giants.
