Karim Benzema could be in line to make a shock return to the French squad ahead of Sunday's World Cup final showdown with Argentina.
The Real Madrid striker was ruled out of the tournament with an injury almost a month ago. Since then, he has been recovering with Madrid and recently returned to training sparking rumours that he could once again join up with the French squad before Sunday.
It would be a massive boost to the reigning World Champions that have already been dealt a number of injury blows in the build up and throughout the tournament itself. Midfield mainstays Paul Pogba and N'golo Kante were rules out before the tournament, while Benzema returned to Spain just days before France's World Cup journey began.

Despite returning to Madrid, Benzema is still technically on the squad list and if fit, could return to the squad at any time. Olivier Giroud has deputised in Benzema's place and has scored four goals so far this tournament.
Much was expected of the 34-year-old heading into the tournament after he scored 44 goals in 46 games last season. The Real Madrid legend has had a stunning late career revival and was awarded the Ballon d'or award for 2022 that saw him win the Champions League with Madrid once again.
When asked about the Benzema rumours after the semi-final win, Deschamps stoked the flames of the rumour mill and replied "Next question," with a cheeky smirk.
With the final just 72 hours away, a decision on Benzema will have to be made quickly if he is to indeed be ready to go for Sunday's mouthwatering final.
