Kanye West has made his catwalk model debut after he hit the runway at Paris Fashion Week.
Audience members were stunned to realise that the Yeezy star had just strutted past them as they watched the Balenciaga show in the French capital on Sunday.
Wearing an oversized black hoody with a military-style cargo jacket layered over it, Kanye hid his face with a Balenciaga cap with his hood pulled up over it as he strutted down the catwalk in front of an enthralled audience.
The look was completed with a pair of baggy leather trousers and black boots as the steely-faced rapper stomped by at first unrecognisable to attendees of the lavish show.
Balenciaga creative director Demna spoke about his decision to feature Ye in the show as he admitted he hoped having him walk incognito would help convey a message to fashion lovers.
He said: "Individualism in fashion is downgraded to pseudo trends dictated by a post in stories of some celebrity of the moment … fashion in its best case scenario should not need a story to be sold to someone … let us let everyone be anyone.”
Invites to the cutting-edge show came in the form of a battered-looking wallet that was overflowing with cards, receipts and coins as well as an ID card bearing the name of a Balenciaga employee and a weathered-looking photo of a cat stuck behind the coin pouch.
The catwalk itself was designed as a muddy track which splattered dirt over the clothes – and some front row attendees – as the models walked by to a soundtrack of gunfire and techno music.
Other gritty features of the show included bags made in the guise of crisp packets, keys hanging from ponytails, dolls made to look like babies in slings strapped to some models and AirPods worn in other's ears.
The label's creative director Demna meanwhile excitedly shared the news of Ye's appearance with an Instagram clip of his big moment as it happened.
He captioned the upload: "YE IS WALKING FOR BALENCIAGA SUMMER 23."
Ye may not be done with his Paris Fashion Week surprises just yet with as yet unconfirmed rumours circulating that his own Yeezy brand could be set to hold a show at the event.
Meanwhile, the chart-topper has reportedly hired the same divorce lawyer who represented Melinda Gates in her multi-billion dollar divorce from Bill Gates as he continues to try and settle custody and property issues with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Kanye has already hired five attorneys amid his ongoing divorce with estranged wife Kim Kardashian, making Robert Stephan Cohen – who has also represented big-name clients such as Rupert Murdoch and Chris Rock – the sixth lawyer to handle the case.
However, TMZ has reported that Ye has also hired Beverly Hills based attorney Nicholas A Salick of Salick Family Law Group, APLC as counsel in California, due to Cohen living in New York.
