Balenciaga has announced the end of their relationship with Kanye West, just weeks after the rapper opened their Paris Fashion Week show.
Kanye, legally known as Ye, has been involved in a string of controversies in recent weeks after he wore a 'White Lives Matter shirt and made a number of anti-Semitic remarks.
Balenciaga's decision to cut ties with the 45-year-old rapper was revealed by the French fashion house's parent company, Kering, and comes despite a lengthy relationship between Kanye and Balenciaga's artistic director Demna.
Kanye collaborated with Demna earlier this year for his Yeezy line with Gap.
"Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist," Kering said in a statement to WWD.
The Mirror has approached representatives of both Kanye and Kering for comment.
Kanye made his catwalk model debut during Balenciaga's Paris Fashion Week show, as he walked down a mud-splattered runway wearing an oversized black military-style jacket, a pair of baggy leather trousers and a Balenciaga cap.
He completed his look with black boots and a branded mouthguard.
Balenciaga's move to cut ties with the Flashing Lights musician comes after Kanye announced he will be terminating his contract with Gap last month.
In a letter shared by the Yeezy founder's lawyer. he cited Gap’s alleged failure to meet obligations detailed in their agreement, which included distributing Yeezy products in its stores by the second half of 2021 and creating dedicated Yeezy Gap stores.
Kanye also has a rocky relationship with his long-time partner Adidas.
The sports brand revealed last month it had placed Kanye's lucrative partnership with them "under review".
Adidas said in a statement: "Adidas has always been about creativity, innovation and supporting athletes and artists to achieve their vision."
It continued: "The Adidas Yeezy partnership is one of the most successful collaborations in our industry’s history.
"We are proud of our team that has worked tirelessly throughout our collaboration with Ye and the iconic products that were born from it.
"We also recognise that all successful partnerships are rooted in mutual respect and shared values.
"After repeated efforts to resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review. We will continue to co-manage the current product during this period."
