KANPUR: The vehicles should be used only for the purpose they are made, appealed chief minister Yogi Adityanath after meeting the injured of the two accidents at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital in Kanpur on Sunday. Nearly 31 people died and 31 others injured in two back-to-back accidents involving a tractor and a pickup loader in Kanpur in the past 24 hours. The CM said that road safety is the priority of the government.
“It is a matter of concern that many lives are lost in road accidents. In view of this, the transport department should work hard to bring awareness among the masses. The tractor-trolley should be used only in the work for which it is meant. There is a need for collective efforts to prevent the loss of life and property by adhering to road safety rules. For this, the common man, government and media have to come forward. Awareness programs should be conducted in schools, colleges and institutions,” said CM Yogi while referring to the death of 26 persons, including women and children, in the accident at Ghatampur in Kanpur and the death of five people in an accident on the Ahirwan highway in Chakeri area of the district.
