KANPUR: Ten persons including a father-son duo have been booked on Thursday in connection with a case wherein a minor girl has gone missing from her house in the Babupurwa area of the city.
The police said, action has been taken against 10 people including the father and son of another community and their eight aides under relevant sections, including abduction and conversion on the complaint of the family members of the girl.
Two teams of police are searching for the girl and other accused. Along with this, the surveillance team is investigating the CDR of the named accused and the mobile phone of the teenager.
The minor daughter of the loader driver, a resident of Babupurwa, who was studying in class VII, went missing on Sunday under mysterious circumstances.
In this case, the girl’s mother accused Mohd Amin of another community living in the locality of kidnapping her and converting her to his religion.
A report was lodged against Mohd Amin, his brother Sameer, their father Balli, Mohd Sofiyan alias Don, besides six others of kidnapping the girl and pressurizing her to convert, under relevant sections including kidnapping and SC/ST Act.
Following the report, the police had detained Mohd Amin and one of his friends, but after the girl could not be traced, the two were released.
After this, the girl’s parents had created a ruckus at the Babupurwa police station.
ACP Babupurwa Alok Singh said that two police teams have been constituted for the recovery of the girl, besides the arrest of the accused. “We are conducting raids in this regard,” he added.
