Kamala Harris’ senior most campaign adviser expressed confidence on Wednesday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s withdrawal from the presidential race would not have a significant impact on the contest. Jen O’Malley Dillon, the campaign chair, made these remarks at an event during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Dillon stated, “We are very confident that the vice president is going to win whether she’s running against one candidate or multiple candidates.” She further added, “I don’t think it’s really going to interfere with the race too much. I think we’re going to be focused on what we have to do, and we’re going to be ready regardless.”
She mentioned that it was unclear which candidate Kennedy was drawing more support from, indicating that support had been fluctuating throughout the contest. Dillon highlighted that Harris had the backing of the Kennedy family, despite some members disavowing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent bid. Notably, Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, spoke at the DNC earlier in the week.
