Vice President Kamala Harris' failed presidential campaign has come under scrutiny for its extravagant spending, totaling over $1 billion in just three months. The campaign's expenditures have raised eyebrows, with notable payments to celebrity influencers, radical activist groups, and private jets.
One controversial payment was two $500,000 transactions to Oprah Winfrey's production company, following appearances by Winfrey alongside Harris at campaign events. Critics accused Harris of buying endorsements, with GOP Rep. Greg Murphy calling it 'unconscionable.'
Further scrutiny arose over the campaign's allocation of funds to Village Marketing Agency, a company connecting clients with social media influencers, and spending on digital media consultants, event production, and podcast appearances.
In addition to celebrity endorsements, the campaign made significant contributions to left-leaning activist groups, including the Black Voters Matter Fund and the Black Church PAC, both advocating for defunding the police and reparations.
Despite Harris' environmental platform, the campaign spent over $4 million on private jets through Advanced Aviation. Payroll and consulting fees also accounted for a substantial portion of the budget, with over $56 million allocated to payroll and over $100 million to consulting and marketing firms.
As a result of its spending, the Harris-Walz campaign reportedly faces a $20 million debt, despite raising over $1 billion and having $118 million in the bank as of October 16. President-elect Donald Trump offered to assist the struggling campaign, emphasizing the importance of unity within the party.
The Harris campaign has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
