Kai Havertz looks set to join Arsenal and ‘leaks’ have already emerged over his proposed move to the Gunners.
The 24-year-old is on the verge of becoming Mikel Arteta’s first signing of the summer after Arsenal agreed a deal worth up to £65million with Chelsea. Havertz finished as the Blues’ top scorer last term in a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, having previously scored the winning goals in both the Club World Cup and Champions League finals.
football.london reported that the German forward was scheduled to undergo his medical overseas this weekend. If all goes to plan, Havertz will soon be an Arsenal player and could be set to continue a career-long tradition when he does arrive in north London.
It has been ‘leaked’ that Havertz will wear number 29 for the Gunners, according to Kieron Cook, who also correctly predicted both Jorginho and Jakub Kiwior’s shirt numbers last season. Havertz has worn the same number ever since breaking into Bayer Leverkusen’s first team at the start of his career, with 29 last worn by Matteo Guendouzi for Arsenal.
Explaining the reason behind his shirt number, back in 2021, Havertz told The Athletic: “When I was young I always used to play FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer with my brother. We always made ourselves in the game. I had No 10, golden shoes and things like that. My brother always put No 29 on his shirt.

"When I came to the professional game and Leverkusen asked me what number I wanted to have, I asked them which numbers were free. When they said 29, I said I’d take it because of my brother. Sometimes it’s lucky for me, sometimes not, but I like the number and now I think everybody knows me for it.”
