K-pop band STAYC accidentally don Glasgow Rangers tops in US gig

A K-pop group donned Glasgow Rangers shirts at a gig in Texas, America, after getting mixed up with the football teams.

Rather than wearing official Texas Rangers tops for the show in Dallas, members of group STAYC wore the Scottish club's 1996-97 shirt.

The popular group had been aiming to wear the official shirt of the local Texas Rangers baseball team, but instead strode on to stage for their show in Dallas clothed in 1990s Glasgow Rangers shirts famous for players such as Paul Gascoigne and Ally McCoist.

Two of the girls were seen sporting the Rangers 1996-97 home shirts at the concert last Thursday (October 19), while promoting their new album Teenfresh, which is fast rocketing up the American charts.

But the accident did not infuriate Americans, and instead made the group honorary Rangers fans, with social media users quick to enjoy the comical moment and wondering whether the band may soon play at the Ibrox.

One Glasgow Rangers fan tweeted: "Rangers are the kings of K-Pop."

Another wrote: "OK fine I will buy all their albums."

A third added: "As a Scottish person who supports [Rangers] this was not in my 2023 bingo card."

Another fan directly tweeted the club and asked: "@RangersFC can we have @STAYC_official #teddybear played at #Ibrox on matchdays!?".

STAYC, who marked their musical debut in 2020 with the well-received album Star to a Young Culture, have been touring as part of their Teenfresh world tour, and are currently in America looking to build a name for themselves and build a global fanbase to expand their influence beyond the Asian market.
