Justin Timberlake's 'Drown' Misses Hot 100 But Debuts Strong Elsewhere

Justin Timberlake looks happy.

Justin Timberlake recently attended the Los Angeles Premiere FYC Event for Hulu's 'Candy' at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The singer is gearing up for the release of his upcoming album 'Everything I Thought It Was,' set to debut in a little over a week.

One of the tracks from the album, titled 'Drown,' was released as a promotional single. Despite initial excitement, 'Drown' did not make it onto the Hot 100 chart, falling just short by one position. Instead, the song debuted on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, which serves as an extension of the main chart for songs that narrowly missed making the Hot 100.

'Drown' entered the Bubbling Under Hot 100 at the top spot, indicating it was the one-hundred-and-first most-consumed song in the country. This track followed the release of 'Selfish,' the first single from the album, which entered the Hot 100 at No. 19 but has not climbed higher since its debut.

While 'Selfish' has maintained a position on the Hot 100, currently at No. 33 after five weeks, 'Drown' did not achieve the same level of success. It is important to note that 'Drown' appears to be a promotional single rather than an official single, intended to generate buzz for the artist and upcoming project without the same level of radio promotion or marketing.

Despite missing the Hot 100, 'Drown' also narrowly missed the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart, debuting at No. 11 with 3,123 copies sold in its initial tracking period. This data suggests that while 'Drown' may not have charted as high as expected, there is still interest in the song among fans.
