Justin Ellis was overcome with emotion when he scored his first goal for the U.S. men’s national team on Saturday.
The largely-unknown 19-year-old sent a glancing header past goalkeeper Pedro Gallese to get the Stars and Stripes on the scoresheet inside of four minutes against Peru. It was an electric start for Mauricio Pochettino’s men—and a dream moment for Ellis in his first-ever match representing the nation’s senior squad.
