A curry house in Staple Hill has been nominated as one of the best takeaways in the south west of England. The Arjee Bhajee is based on the corner of Soundwell Road and has been shortlisted among three other venues in the region at the Just Eat Awards 2022.
The bring-your-own-booze restaurant is a family-run business that took over popular greasy spoon cafe Deb’s at the start of the pandemic. Owner Mahfuzal Haque, who grew up in Easton, moved back to Bristol with his family after living in London for several years.
With just 26 covers, the Arjee Bhajee has grown its business in the Bristol takeaway scene over the last couple of years and was recognised by Just Eat for selling 10,000 deliveries in a single year. It has now been recognised at the seventh edition of the Just East Restaurant Awards, formerly the British Takeaway Awards.
