Jurgen Klopp was left to admit not even a potential Rodri red card could have given Liverpool much hope in their heavy 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah’s opener for Liverpool was cancelled out by Julian Alvarez before Pep Guardiola’s men took control early in the second half courtesy of quickfire goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan. Jack Grealish wrapped up the scoring.
However, City were perhaps fortunate to not see Rodri sent off for a second bookable offence in the first half when the scores were still level.
