Jurgen Klopp ready to hand out five new contracts after agreeing to extend Liverpool deal

Jurgen Klopp committing to a new contract that will extend his stay as Liverpool manager to 2026 could convince star players Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to agree fresh deals of their own this summer.

Mirror Football revealed information on the German's new two-year contract extension at Anfield, which was announced on Thursday afternoon, and there is now growing hope that up to five members of this year's squad could follow suit and put pen to paper. In addition to Salah and Mane, Brazil forward Roberto Firmino, central midfielder Naby Keita and veteran leader James Milner may all extend their stays.

Klopp believes this current team, which could end up winning an unprecedented quadruple of trophies in the next month, has the same burning desire to win trophies and possesses the perfect balance.

Salah’s present deal expires next summer and negotiations have progressed slowly. The Egypt star turns 30 in June and in a recent interview with Sky Sports stressed that salary does not count for everything.

"This club means a lot to me - I've enjoyed my football here more than anywhere, I gave the club everything and everybody saw that,” he told the broadcaster. “I've had a lot of unbelievable moments here, winning trophies, individual goals, individual trophies. It's like a family here."

Mane is in a similar position with a deal that has 14 months remaining and negotiations ongoing but the executive director of the agency representing the Senegal star, Bjorn Bezemer, recently said that it may not be until the end of the season before progress is made.

Keita and Firmino are also out of contract at the end of next season, while 36-year-old Milner was offered a one-year extension at the beginning of the year.

In a short video confirming his new deal, Klopp said: "There's something to announce. Like last time, some will like it, some will not like it too much. If you do not like it, stop watching now.

"I stay for another two years. And not only me! No, all my coaches as well, which is the most important actually. Why? is now the question… because Ulla wants to stay! As a good husband, what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You stay. That's not the only reason, but it's one of the reasons.

"You know, I love our club, it's the best place to be. I feel really, really lucky. What is it now? Six and a half years ago, FSG thought it would be a good idea to bring a German fella in and here we are. We will stay for another two, makes it four from now on. Wow! That's a long time in football. Hope we all will enjoy the time together. See you soon…"
