Rising Australian star Emerson Jones will leave Melbourne Park without a title after falling short in both the girls' singles and girls' doubles on a day of disappointment.

The 16-year-old Queenslander, ranked world No.1, was upset 6-3 6-4 by fourth seed Wakana Sonobe of Japan in the semi-finals of the girls' singles early on Friday.
