Tributes have been pouring in for Julian Sands following the tragic news that he has been found dead five months after going missing while hiking in California.
The British actor, 65, went missing on January 13 while out in the San Gabriel mountains in southern California amid challenging conditions in the area.
After months of extensive searches, the Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said remains had been found which were later confirmed to be Julian.
Following the sad news, friends and fans have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the actor.
Actor Alessandro Nivola wrote: "RIP Julian Sands. A great actor. None of the eulogies are doing his talent justice.
"Iconic in Room With A View. And a transformer ever since playing against his looks. An eccentric, hilarious, wildly intelligent and passionate artist. And a great friend."
Film producer Alan Spencer said: "It was a pleasure to work with and get to know Julian Sands. I rarely saw him without a book in his hand.
"We'd sometimes trades quotes from George Bernard Shaw. One of his favorites was: 'If there was nothing wrong in the world there wouldn't be anything for us to do'."
One fan tweeted: "R.I.P. Julian Sands. He died many months ago, and we knew he was gone, but now there is closure for the people who knew and loved him.
"For the rest of us, we will always cherish what he brought to screen. Truly one of the greats."
"R.I.P. Julian Sands, I wish his family and friends strength and comfort," another fan said.
Julian's death was confirmed in a statement released by the Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday.
It read: "The identification process for the body located on Mt. Baldy on June 24, 2023, has been completed and was positively identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands of North Hollywood. The manner of death is still under investigation, pending further test results.
"We would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers that worked tirelessly to locate Mr. Sands."
Julian is survived by his wife Evgenia Citkowitz - whom he married in 1990 - and their two children, Natalya and Imogen, as well as by his son Henry from a previous marriage.
