Julian Nagelsmann Tottenham move closer after Bayern Munich decision amid Antonio Conte future

Tottenham's future appears to be moving ever closer to being one that doesn't include Antonio Conte as the head coach. The head coach has just a few months remaining on his current deal with the Lilywhites, with plenty of discontent surrounding the club heading into the final games of the season.

Many would have been hopeful that there was a competition to fight for after the international break, but defeat in the FA Cup and Champions League with little fight to be shown has left many with a sour taste in their mouth. All that remains is a bid to earn back-to-back finishes in the top four and a place in next season's Champions League.

Conte has often stressed this as an overachievement, given the resources that Spurs have in comparison to their Europe-chasing rivals. However, for many that isn't enough as the feeling around the club turns sour, with plenty of discussion centring around a potential exit for the head coach.

A whole host of names have been linked with the potential vacancy, from Mauricio Pochettino to Luis Enrique, however there may be a surprise contender. That is Julian Nagelsmann, who has previously been linked with the post, but instead made the switch from RB Leipzig to Bayern Munich.

There wasn't any indication of his job there being at risk until Friday, when the club announced the decision to move the head coach on. "FC Bayern and head coach Julian Nagelsmann have parted company," a club statement from the Bundesliga champions read.

"This decision was taken by CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić in consultation with club president Herbert Hainer. Nagelsmann will be succeeded by Thomas Tuchel."

It moves the possibility of a move to north London on, with Telegraph reporting that Spurs will seek to make contact with Nagelsmann over joining.
