Julia Donaldson reveals why she almost refused to let The Scarecrows’ Wedding become a BBC cartoon

Julia Donaldson has revealed that adapting The Scarecrows’ Wedding for television was more complicated than some of her other books, admitting she nearly walked away from the project altogether.

London-born Donaldson, 77, is one of the UK’s most successful children’s authors, best known for titles including The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and Stick Man, many of which have become staples of Christmas television.
