Jubilee celebrant delights neighbours after making his very own Red Arrows display

A man created his own Red Arrows display much to the delight of his neighbours during a Platinum Jubilee street party - after the real show was cancelled.

Literary agent and publisher James Spackman posted a clip of the innovator - called Steve - which showed him riding a bicycle while holding a frame with red toy planes attached in the classic diamond nine formation.

The contraption was also letting out red, blue and white 'smoke', much like the famous jets' coloured vapoured.

Steve was wearing a black top hat with a Union Jack on the front during the ride past.

Those watching, in what appears to be a London neighbourhood, cheered and clapped.

The tweet - posted on Sunday afternoon - has so far received over 11k likes on Twitter.

James wrote: "Massive jubilee curmudgeon though I am, I was *astounded* by our wonderful neighbour Steve's home made Red Arrows..."

It came after the Red Arrows air display was cancelled due to poor weather.

The display was due to take place over Buckingham Palace at 5:05pm to mark the closing of the Jubilee celebrations.

Earlier today, the Red Arrows also confirmed they would not be performing in the skies over Torbay, airshow organisers confirmed.

The display was called into question due to poor weather conditions this morning.

Low-lying cloud threw the plans into flux, with the final decision made at just after 12pm midday.

Organisers of the English Riviera Airshow said: "Due to current weather conditions, we are sorry to say that the RAF Red Arrows have regrettably had to cancel their appearance at today's English Riviera Airshow since it is neither safe nor possible for them to fly in the current conditions.

"We are continuing to very closely review the weather forecast and we are hopeful for an appearance from the RAF Chinook at 1pm.

"We will of course keep you as up to date as possible with regards to the flight displays scheduled for later this afternoon. Thank you again for your patience."

However, many Brits were treated to the iconic display on Thursday to kick off the jubilee celebrations.

The aircraft assembled near the The Wash, a bay near the northwest corner of East Anglia.

Sweeping in from the North Sea, they past over a number of eastern countries before heading south over Swaffham and Thetford in Norfolk, on to Ipswich then over Colchester in Essex.

Then the flypast emerged in central London at lunchtime, passing over the huge crowd of spectators on The Mall and Buckingham Palace, where the Royal Family was gathered.

The iconic air show then dispersed over the south and west of the London Control Zone, also flying over Kent, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire.
