Peter Grant reckons Alistair Johnston's reported move to Celtic shows that right-back Josip Juranovic will be on his way out of the club sometime soon.
Both are in Qatar at the World Cup for their respective nations and will lock horns this Sunday when Juranovic Croatia meets Johnston's Canada. But they might soon be teammates, with reports claiming that the versatile Montreal full-back is a target for Celtic and that there's a verbal agreement in place for his transfer.
Rumours have swirled that manager Ange Postecoglou and the club will assess Juranovic's future after the major tournament next month amid rumoured interest in his services. Hoops hero Grant though says the Australian gaffer might already know the state of play, as making a move for another right-back is a revealing sign. He told Go Radio: "It's interesting as I thought he did very well the other evening ( Johnston v Belgium), like the whole Canada team did.
"It's interesting as you have Juranovic and Anthony Ralston there. I don't think young Tony has never let himself down since the manager has come in while Juranovic has done very well.
"But obviously there must be talk of Juranovic either going in this window or in the summer time. It's probably the preparation the manager is doing at this moment in time. He's maybe spoke to Juranovic about these things, whether he's going to leave, whether Celtic are going to get good money for him. They'll maybe be thinking it's one in and one out."
