Celtic wing-back Josip Juranovic will not play any further part in the World Cup by being ruled out of the third-place playoff against Morocco - after it emerged that he played 70 minutes injured against Argentina.
The Croatian star, 27, has been one of the shining lights at the Qatar World Cup as his nation impressed once more to advance to the latter stages of the tournament. Already noting his quality, Celtic fans have not been surprised by the displays on offer by the man they signed just eighteen months ago for £2.5million from Legia Warsaw.
Having produced a Man of the Match performance against Brazil by keeping world renowned star Vinicius Jr quiet - alongside Neymar to an extent - the Zagreb-born hero has only increased his potential transfer fee after proving he can strut his stuff against the world's elite. However, his tournament has reportedly come to an end, according to Fabrizio Romano - as he has been ruled out of Saturday's bronze medal clash with Morocco due to an injury sustained against Argentina.
"Josip Juranović will not play the last, 3rd place game with Croatia vs Morocco as he was on the pitch for 70’ vs Argentina despite calf injury," Romano tweeted. He will be back in 8/10 days — in the next weeks his future will be discussed as many clubs are keen on signing him."
Clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Leicester City and Barcelona have been linked with his services, although it remains to be seen who will sign him over the winter transfer window.
Juranovic has been a revelation since joining from the Polish Ekstraklasa last summer, and if he moves, will be set to mark a superb return on investment by becoming Ange Postecoglou's first major sale. Had it not been for the superb exploits of Achraf Hakimi at the World Cup, Juranovic would have been voted the outright best right-back at the tournament - although that remains up in the air and could largely depend on Saturday's result against the African nation.
