Atletico Madrid has been joined in the race for Celtic star Josip Juranovic by a La Liga rival.
Real Sociedad have joined the chase for the Hoops defender with Ange Postecoglou believed to be ready to cash in on the Croatia World Cup star - just 18 months after he arrived at Parkhead in a deal from Legia Warsaw for around £2.5million. The full-back is under contract until 2026 and would command a big fee.
Major interest continues to mount in the right-back, who has played every single game for his country in their World Cup march. They are set to come up against Brazil in the quarter-finals with Diego Simeone's men set to send a scout to watch him in action. But the Scottish Sun now reports that Spanish top flight outfit Sociedad are also keen.
Atletico are long-term admirers of the full-back and have been previously name checked alongside English Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea in previous links. His displays at the World Cup have done his chances of a big move no harm with the January transfer window opening in just a couple of weeks.
Celtic have already sourced a replacement in Canada star Alistair Johnston - who also impressed with his displays in Qatar. He has already put pen to paper on a deal said to be in the £3million region from CF Montreal. Anthony Ralston is also on the books for the right-back role and has impressed when called upon by his club boss.
Postecoglou has also completed a deal for highly-rated defender Yuki Kobayashi from the J-League as he landed his latest talent from a market he knows so well.
The Scottish champions return to action next weekend as they resume their bid to land back to back league titles. They currently sit nine points clear of Rangers who have a new boss in the dugout in the shape of Michael Beale following the decision to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Hoops travel to Aberdeen next Saturday before games with Livingston, St Johnstone and Hibs before the big Old Firm derby on January 2.
