Jose Mourinho gives verdict on Manchester United transfer target Victor Osimhen

Jose Mourinho has compared Manchester United transfer target Victor Osimhen to Didier Drogba, but warned the Napoli striker that he must change one aspect of his game if he wants to move to the Premier League.

The Nigeria international was on target as Luciano Spalletti's side secured a 2-1 victory over Roma on Sunday night - which saw Napoli extend their lead at the top of Serie A to 13 points. For Osimhen, he has now registered 15 goals and four assists in 20 appearances this season.

Osimhen, who has scored 14 goals in 16 league matches, has been heavily linked with a move to United in the summer, with a host of other clubs in Europe thought to be keen on the 24-year-old. The Reds are expected to recruit a new striker at the end of the season, with Cristiano Ronaldo having left the club in November.

After the game on Sunday, Mourinho was keen to praise Osimhen - even comparing him to former Chelsea frontman Drogba, who scored 104 goals in 254 Premier League appearances. However, the former United boss did suggest that the Napoli ace must stop 'diving'.

"He is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive," Mourinho told reporters. "If Victor changes, then OK. I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money.

"However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change, because in Italy they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down hard on him."

Mourinho added: "I told him that he scored a wonderful goal and needs to stop diving so much. His goal was fantastic, he did the same thing when we met earlier this season, so he’s a fantastic player. But he mustn’t dive."

United signed Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season earlier this month, with Anthony Martial the only senior striker at the club prior to the Dutchman's arrival at Old Trafford.

Despite this, the club are still expected to strengthen in that area in the summer, with Osimhen and Harry Kane appearing to be the two man candidates at the moment.
