Jorge Ramos Is Getting Closer To Leaving Univision; What's Next For Him?

En español

The countdown continues for Jorge Ramos' departure from Univision, marking the end of an era for one of the most iconic figures in Hispanic journalism in the United States. After nearly 40 years, the Mexican journalist announced he will step down as one of the anchors of 'Noticiero Univision' at the end of 2024.

Known for his distinctive style and dedication to truth, Ramos has been a cornerstone of Hispanic television, covering major events and interviewing global leaders. While his career began in Mexico, it was at Univision that he solidified his reputation as an influential voice, earning recognition as one of the "25 Most Influential Hispanics" in the U.S. and gracing the cover of TIME in 2015.

This announcement has left many of his followers and colleagues wondering about the next chapter of his professional journey.

What lies ahead for Jorge Ramos?

Although he has not disclosed specific plans, Ramos has assured that he will remain connected to journalism. He emphasized that this departure is not a definitive goodbye, hinting at potential new projects.

"This is not farewell. I will continue presenting 'Noticiero Univision' until December, and afterward, I will share my professional plans," he stated.

Potential opportunities could include digital platforms or even other television networks, where Ramos might continue reporting and analyzing major events. Networks like Telemundo, CNN en Español, or emerging platforms aiming to enhance their news content could be ideal destinations for the journalist. Given his extensive experience and renown in the field, it's likely that these outlets would welcome his talent.

Could he focus solely on writing?

Throughout his career, Ramos has published several books, the latest being 'Así veo las cosas: Lo que nunca te conté' ('How I See Things: What I Never Told You'), which he presented on November 22 at the Miami Book Fair, accompanied by his partner, Chiquinquirá Delgado.

In this book, Ramos shares personal anecdotes and reflections on his life and career, offering an intimate look at his experiences as a journalist and the challenges of covering complex topics like immigration and politics.

This book not only reinforces his legacy as a communicator but also builds a bridge to his future, as many expect him to continue exploring these themes in upcoming projects.

For now, we await news of what's next for Ramos. Like many, we hope to see him thrive in this noble profession, whether as a writer or as the face of another news program.
