Jorge Masvidal has brought his own mum into his row with Conor McGregor, claiming even she knows it would be an easy fight.
Masvidal and McGregor have feuded over a potential fight for several weeks, with 'Gamebred' issuing multiple call-outs in an attempt to entice the Irishman into talks. Most recently, McGregor branded Masvidal a "pigeon brain" before his rival promptly fired back to accuse him of being too "scared" to pursue a fight.
The Irishman is unlikely to fight this year despite making a return to training with the leg he broke last year against Dustin Poirier. However Masvidal later suggested his long-term foe would rather insult his mum than entertain a UFC meeting. “No, Conor doesn’t want the fight,” Masvidal said during an interview with MMA Fighting. “If he did, he’d post something, he’d say something, he’d probably just insult my mom or some relative of mine, my nation, where I come from, something like that.
"He’ll say something like that but he won’t say anything about a fight or a fight date. So the Conor thing, he just wants it ‘I hope it goes away’ because he really doesn’t want to fight. He doesn’t mention [me] or say anything. Obviously it’s maybe the biggest pay-per-view fight in history as far as the UFC goes. I think we’d shatter all numbers, all previous records. But for some reason this guy doesn’t want to entertain it.”
McGregor responded to the video clip on social media, tweeting: “Insult your mum? What a loser you are, mate. Me and your mum get along.” Masvidal promptly hit back: “Yeah, my mum loves you. She knows you are about to be the biggest paycheck for me and a relatively easy fight.”
Masvidal has wanted a fight with McGregor for several years but UFC president Dana White has been reluctant to entertain a meeting due to their size difference. However any significant weight gap could be bridged by McGregor's desire to return to 170lb for his UFC comeback.

But as of now there is no indication that the UFC are willing to stage the bout between the rivals. McGregor will likely have various lucrative options for his return including a 155lb title challenge against Charles Oliveira. However Masvidal believes money doesn't motivate McGregor anymore, and has vowed to break his rival's jaw before any other rival can.
“Money doesn’t entertain him no more, make him want to get out of his bed,” Masvidal continued. “You’re a f****** p****. We could do it man to man in the cage and just once and for all and get paid a handsome reward while doing it.
"So if this individual doesn’t want to do it, [because] he knows what’s going to happen. I’m not going to take him down and hold him down. ’m going to get in his face, I’m going to break his jaw and that’s not going to look good for his brand."
