Jordan Nobbs sparkled for Arsenal in their 3-1 Women’s Champions League win over Zurich, as she bids to force her way into the Lionesses squad for next year’s World Cup.

The midfielder, who was left out of the England squad for their Euros triumph last summer, set Arsenal on their way to victory after being handed a rare start at Emirates Stadium.

Lina Hurtig then scored twice as the Gunners backed up their impressive 5-1 win over holders Lyon last week to take control of Group C.

“This game really came at a moment where we needed to trust the whole squad,” said Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall.

“It’s nice. It’s the Champions League, so everything is at stake, and I hope the players feel that and that we trust them.

“When you put players on in a Champions League game it’s because you trust them. I’ve been really happy with how people have been training and how the spirit has been.”
