Jonah Jackson’s time in Detroit has come to an end. The Lions starting left guard for the past few seasons has agreed to a lucrative free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams.
According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Jackson agreed to a three-year deal worth $51 million with the Rams. The contract cannot be signed until the official free agency period opens on Wednesday afternoon, but multiple outlets have cited the agreement between Jackson and the Rams.
Of note, $34 million of the deal will be guaranteed at signing. That 66 percent guarantee — effectively the first two seasons of salary in full — is an impressive haul for Jackson. The 27-year-old started 57 games in his four seasons in Detroit since the Lions selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Ohio State. He missed five games in 2023 and also sat out four in 2022 with injuries.
Earlier in the day, the Lions agreed to re-sign starting right guard Graham Glasgow to a three-year, $20 million deal just ahead of the legal tampering period of free agency. Now the Lions will be in search of a new left guard after four solid seasons from Jackson, including a Pro Bowl nod in 2022.
