Jon Snow, 74, and wife Dr Precious Lunga, 47, take break from parenting to attend event

Jon Snow and his wife Dr Precious Lunga got dressed up for the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards in London.

The couple, who welcomed their son last March, looked cheerful as they attended the 48th annual event lunch.

Precious, 47 beamed as her husband Jon, 74, accepted the Harvey Lee Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting Award at the ceremony.

The Channel 4 presenter wore a navy blue corduroy suit and added a bit of colour with a rainbow tie over a white shirt.

Precious wore a blue swing dress to match her husband and added a beige blazer.

The parents welcomed their son in March last year via a surrogate.

In March Jon said he and his wife opted to use a surrogate after "numerous medical setbacks and miscarriages".

He said that he and Zimbabwean-born academic Precious were "delighted" after announcing the little one's arrival.

In a statement, he said: "In our desire to seal our now 11 years of marriage with a baby, my wife suffered numerous medical setbacks and miscarriages.

"Consequently, we will always be deeply grateful to our surrogate, who carried our embryo to term.

"Amid these challenging times, we feel doubly blessed to be able to celebrate our good fortune."

He was briefly engaged to ITN journalist Anna Ford, 70, but then he went on and married Precious in March 2010.

But he says age means nothing to the pair and said Precious' mental age was far higher than his, adding: "She’s somewhere in her forties. She’s very, very mature. I mean, she’s a serious boffin."

Precious is an epidemiologist with the Medical Research Council, specialising in HIV prevention in Africa, and a Yale World Fellow.

She also lead the Cambridge University women's karate team as she studied for a Phd in neuroscience.

The pair married in the luxurious Caribbean island of Mustique at the £800-a-night Firefly Hotel.

At the time, Snow himself said: "Yes, I have got married, but I have absolutely no interest in discussing my private life. It was actually some time ago."

Jon, who presented Channel 4 news from 1989 to 2021, is also a dad to two daughters Leila and Freya with his former partner Madeleine Colvin.
