Lucknow: President Ram Nath Kovind, while addressing the joint session of Uttar Pradesh Legislature, on Monday on the ocassion of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', said, "Our culture of 'Unity in Diversity' gives us exceptional place in the world."

The President underlined the contirbution of state political celebrities to the development of Uttar Pradesh and also the country.
President Kovind said that from the view point of social harmony, the UP Legislature has appropriate representation of all sections of society.
Speaking on woman empowerment, the President pointed out that out of 403 members in the Legislative Assembly, at present only 47 are women and out of 91 current members in the Legislative Council, only 5 are women. We should consider giving them more representation, he added.
