Johnny Depp will join pal Jeff Beck for Glasgow gig as Amber Heard verdict looms

Johnny Depp will take to the stage with Jeff Beck in Glasgow this weekend.

Rumours had been circulating all week that the Hollywood megastar would be making an appearance for the legendary rocker's Scottish gig on Friday after he delighted crowds in London and Sheffield by turning up unannounced.

The famous pair are well known good pals and see themselves as "musical soulmates".

Depp has made guest appearances at Beck's first two dates in the UK as part of his Isolation tour, prompting Scots fans to speculate they could also be in for a treat.

And now it has been confirmed by a PR agent who represents the Pirates of the Caribbean star that he will join his friend for the remainder of the British dates.

Fans have been expressing their excitement and surprise to see the actor on British soil amid his ongoing defamation lawsuit in the United States.

The Edward Scissorhands star has made headlines around the world in recent weeks due to his widely-televised trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Johnny is suing his former partner over a 2018 article she wrote about being the victim of domestic abuse.

While the article in the Washington Post did not mention Johnny by name, his lawyers say it falsely implies he was physically and sexually abusive.

Heard is countersuing for $100m.

Some have criticised the fanfare around the trial, which they believe doesn't reflect the serious nature of the claims being discussed in court, and the way his supports have mocked Amber and the alleged excuse she experienced.

The six-week trial has seen huge levels of fan attention online and in person.

Johnny flew to the UK after the closing arguments in his case against Amber were delivered on Friday.

The jury is now deliberating on the outcome, with the verdict thought to be expected as soon as Tuesday by some experts .

The remaining UK tour dates which Depp will join are:

  • Friday June 3, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
  • Saturday June 4, Manchester O2 Apollo
  • Monday June 6, Birmingham Symphony Hall
  • Tuesday June 7, York Barbican
