Johnny Depp releasing album with Jeff Beck in July

Johnny Depp is releasing an album with guitarist Jeff Beck next month. The star has been on tour with the musician in the UK - missing the favourable ruling for him in his high-profile US libel case against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Depp made a guest appearance at a concert in Gateshead on Thursday ahead of shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and York. He has taken to the stage with Beck multiple times this week and was seen greeting fans and drinking in a Newcastle pub with Sam Fender on Wednesday.

Beck said they met five years ago and "we've never stopped laughing since". He added: "We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July.”

The collaboration was first announced by Depp on his Instagram account in April 2020. At the time he described Beck “my dear friend and my brother … one of my all time guitar heroes”.

The musician had originally announced the collaboration with a cover of John Lennon’s song Isolation. He said then: "Given all the hard days and true ‘isolation’ that people are going through in these challenging times, we decided now might be the right time to let you all hear it. You’ll be hearing more from Johnny and me in a little while, but until then we hope you find some comfort and solidarity in our take on this Lennon classic."

Depp has previously played with supergroup Hollywood Vampires alongside Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. In a statement following his defamation lawsuit against Heard, he hailed the start of a "new chapter".

The Pirates of the Caribbean has also been pictured cuddling orphaned badger cubs at a wildlife centre in Kent during his time in the UK. Social media posts from the Folly Wildlife Rescue centre in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, social media showed him with the animal, named Freddie Mercury.
