ITV has reportedly taken John Torode and Lisa Faulkner’s cookery show off the boil one year after Torode was dropped from MasterChef.
The married couple started hosting the morning culinary series John & Lisa's Weekend Kitchen in 2019, sharing cost-effective recipes and hacks for home cooking.
But, according to reports, production on the series has been paused by the channel, with a source telling The Mirror: "The truth is there are no current plans for series 11 of Weekend Kitchen.”
However, they added that “no final decision has yet been made over whether it will return in the future”. The Independent has contacted ITV for comment.
ITV stood by Torode, 60, after he was dropped from Masterchef after an investigation into his former co-host Gregg Wallace upheld a complaint that Torode had used “an extremely offensive racist term” during production – though Torode himself has said he has “no recollection” of using the term.
Australian-British star Torode denied the allegation and said he knows any racial language “is wholly unacceptable in any environment”.
Discussing his exit from MasterChef, he said: “I’d hoped that I’d have some say in my exit from a show I’ve worked on since its relaunch in 2005, but events in the last few days seem to have prevented that.
“Over the past few months, I have been considering my life and the shape of it now and in the future,” he continued. revealing it was “time to pass the cutlery to someone else”.
The ruling arrived in July 2025, several months after Wallace stepped away from the series amid complaints about his behaviour. A day before Torode was sacked, the BBC announced that more than half of the 83 complaints about Wallace’s off-screen behaviour had been upheld.
A published report on the allegations stated that Wallace had been accused of making sexual jokes and asking for the phone numbers of female production staff. Wallace apologised for distress caused, stating his behaviour changed after 2018 and that a late autism diagnosis helped him better understand his communication.
Weekend Kitchen continued as normal, and Torode was welcomed onto daytime series This Morning, where he appears as a regular chef. A source described him as “very much a part of the ITV family”.
Last week, Faulkner, an actor who has appeared in EastEnders and Holby City, revealed she underwent surgery after being diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer.
While she still requires radiotherapy, Faulkner, 54, reassured fans she is "feeling so much better".
Faulkner used her platform to advocate for regular check-ups, emphasising that her cancer would not have been detected without a mammogram.
"I am so grateful that I went for my mammogram," she said. "Don’t put them off, go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn’t have been picked up."
She concluded her message by expressing gratitude to the "wonderful NHS" for the scan and early treatment.
Faulkner and Torode married in 2019, nine years after meeting on the fifth series of Celebrity MasterChef, which Faulkner won.
