John Swinney demands new North Sea Energy Wealth Fund ringfenced for Scotland

JOHN Swinney has demanded the UK Government’s new North Sea Energy Wealth Fund be ringfenced for the north east of Scotland after the Jackdaw gas field was approved.

Scotland’s First Minister welcomed the move in a letter to Prime Minister Andy Burnham, but questioned why the initial £2 billion represents “only around half” of last year’s North Sea revenues.
